About Soulbound
A personality test for people who are tired of being flattened into a four-letter code.
Why this exists
Most personality tests hand you a neat label and move on. You get a description that could be anyone, a few adjectives that technically fit, and a vague sense that the thing read you like an airport horoscope.
Soulbound was built for the opposite feeling, the moment where you read something about yourself and your body actually reacts. The quiet oh. The putting-the-phone-down pause. That reaction is not a personality type finding you. It's a mirror that was built carefully enough to hold your shape.
That's the whole project: make a mirror that people trust enough to share.
Who built it
I'm Lilja Þorsteinsdóttir. I live in Iceland. I built Soulbound because I wanted a personality framework that took the shadow seriously, the parts of ourselves we don't hand out at dinner parties. Most tests measure the version of you that wants to look good on a résumé. This one tries to see the rest.
It is written, designed, coded, and paid for by me. Not a company. Not a team. Not an AI content farm. If the words feel specific, it's because someone actually sat with them.
How the test works
Soulbound reads you across five dimensions:
- Essence: how you orient to the world (inward vs. outward)
- Cognition: how you take in reality (reason vs. intuition)
- Motivation: what you move toward (harmony vs. discovery)
- Perception: how you handle time and plans (structured vs. fluid)
- Shadow: how openly you carry your inner world (guarded vs. open)
The first four dimensions combine to form the 16 Soulbound types. Shadow sits alongside that grid rather than creating extra types. It shapes the texture of your reading: two people with the same type can live it very differently depending on how much of their inner world they let others, and themselves, see.
Shadow is inspired by Jungian depth psychology, but Soulbound is its own framework. It is not MBTI, the Big Five, the Enneagram, or a clinical assessment.
24 questions. Takes about four minutes. No login or paywall for your result. Share it or don't.
If you want the full method, the reverse-keyed questions, the tiebreakers, and how the 16 types are built, read how the Soulbound test works.
What it isn't
Soulbound is an original self-reflection framework, not a clinical or diagnostic tool. It has not been independently psychometrically validated, so it should not be treated as a scientific assessment or as the final word on who you are.
If you are struggling with your mental health, please speak to a real human professional. A test on the internet is not a substitute for care.
Use the result as a starting language for patterns that are hard to put into words, and keep the parts that are useful.

Privacy and terms
Soulbound can be used without an account, and the test itself is scored in your browser. If you create a space or use the deeper tools, some information is stored so the service can work. The details, including the providers involved, retention periods, data rights, payments, refunds and account deletion, are kept in the dedicated policies rather than duplicated here.
